Salvation Army to Distribute Thanksgiving Meal Boxes, Turkeys

Here are five things to know to help inform your day.

1. The Salvation Army will distribute frozen turkeys and pre-packed boxes with Thanksgiving staples at its offices in Milford this morning. The recipients are 250 families who signed up for the assistance, and will come in at pre-designated times through the day.

2. Toys for Tots does not appear to have a specific Milford drop-off location for toys, but several sites surround the town. The Nipmuc Rod and Gun Club in Upton will accept toys through the program in the following time windows: Tuesday through Thursday, 3 to 8 p.m.; Friday noon to 9 p.m. and Sunday, noon to 7 p.m.

3. Charles River Bank has signed up to provide Christmas gifts for 21 children through the Salvation Army in Milford. The children all are under age 12. In addition, the bank will provide "gift ornaments" that allow customers and non customers to provide the gifts, as well. "Customers and non-customers are encouraged to stop by a Charles River Bank office in Bellingham, Mendon or Medway, and ask for a Salvation Army Gift Ornament. All gifts should be returned to Charles River Bank by Wednesday, December 11, unwrapped with the Salvation Army tag attached."

4. An American Red Cross blood drive will be held on Friday at Gold's Gym in Milford, from 2 to 7 p.m.

5. In Case You Missed It: Dr. Robert Gilmore, a science teacher at Stacy Middle School, has received state recognition as a finalist for STEM Teacher of the Year.
