Stacy Middle School Science Teacher a Finalist for STEM Teacher of the Year

Dr. Robert Gilmore, a fifth grade teacher at Stacy Middle, was a finalist for the STEM 2013 Teacher of the Year. The state award recognizes science, technology, engineering and math teachers.

A middle school teacher at Stacy Middle School was among four finalists for the STEM 2013 Teacher of the Year, an honor that has earned the school a $1,000 award.

Robert Gilmore, who teaches 5th grade science, was recognized at the Massachusetts STEM Summit, last week at Patriot Place in Foxborough. The funds for the schools were provided by the Raytheon Corp.

The state's STEM Teacher of the Year is Kelly Powers, a computer science teacher and department chair at the Advanced Math and Science Academy (AMSA) in Marlborough.

Additional finalists were: Hans Batra from Needham High School, Angela Cunard from Seekonk High School, Alexia Forhan from Assabet Valley Regional Technical High School in Marlborough, and Gilmore, representing Stacy Middle School.
