Everett Voters Approve Casino Deal

By an overwhelming margin, Everett voters have approved a resort casino proposal by Wynn Resorts.

The vote Saturday was 5,320 to 833, or 86.5 percent in favor, 13.5 percent opposed.

Everett reached a community host agreement with Wynn Resorts two months ago. The special election for registered voters in the city was the first in Massachusetts since the legislature authorized expanded gaming.

Milford also has an active application for a resort casino, which would compete with the Wynn Resorts casino for the single license available for the greater Boston region.

Milford and Foxwoods Massachusetts, however, have not reached the point of negotiating a community host agreement.
