Doc's Sports Bar to become new Imperial Buffet, Retail Store

The owner of Imperial Buffet in Milford is planning to establish a restaurant in the old Doc's Sports Bar & Grille, and wants to add another 8,000 square-feet for retail.

One of the largest bars in Milford could become one of the largest Chinese restaurants.

The owner of Imperial Buffet hopes to establish a restaurant at the old Doc's Sports Bar & Grille, and construct a 8,000-square-foot addition for a retail tenant, according to an application presented to the Milford Planning Board.

The existing Doc's space is 10,000 square-foot, at 340 E. Main St. Doc's closed last month, after years of failed efforts to gain permission to add adult entertainment to the space.

now located at 350 E. Main St., is owned by Brian Cheng. If the town agrees, he will construct the one-story retail addition for a new tenant, and move into the Doc's space, said Peter Lavoie, the project engineer for Guerriere and Halnon.

The lot has sufficient parking, but the site plan would add stormwater management to the surface, Lavoie said.
