5 Things: Burned House on Water Street Demolished

Here are five things to help inform your day.

1. Three months after the house at 24 Water St. burned in an overnight fire, the remains of the structure were demolished Monday. The town had pressed for the razing, citing the unsafe nature of the structure.

2. Liane Blyn, a Milford resident competing in the powerlifting event at the World Games, is scheduled to compete on Thursday. The event, held in Colombia, is not televised but will be live-streamed.

3. Over the weekend, at the 2nd annual Paul Seaver Invitational Basketball Tournament, Brookline High School claimed the "Stay Strong" big school championship, by posting a 3-0 record in pool play before earning the No. 1 seed from Pool A in Sunday's bracket. Brookline advanced through the winner's side of the bracket before knocking off Catholic Memorial in an overtime game, finishing the weekend with a 6-0 record. Cohasset claimed the "Fight Forth" championship for small schools, posting a 3-0 record in pool play before earning the No. 1 overall seed in Sunday's bracket. Cohasset advanced through the winner's side of the bracket before knocking off Ashland, finishing with a 6-0 record.

4. Milford Town Clerk, Amy Hennessy Neves, recently completed her second year of studies at the New England Municipal Clerks’ Institute at Plymouth State University. The second year is for continuing Clerks.  It is an intermediate level course with continuing interactive classes on the skills of professional administration, management, decision-making, written communication, public speaking, parliamentary procedure, interpersonal communication and law.

5. The Milford Town Library invites duct tape artists to see what they can do with this versatile medium from 2:30 to 4 p.m. Tuesday. The event is part of summer-long programming for young adults.
