The agents commonly changed immigrant's names to something convenient for them, not necessarily for the immmigrant. I was born in Columbus, Ohio about a year before Pearl Harbor. I was educated there in public schools and graduated in 1963 from The Ohio State University. I taught school for a few years and then decided to go into sales and after a few false starts settled on approximately 40 years in textbook publishing, trade sales, university sales and other markets. I retired from full time as the owner/founder of Academic Enterprises Ltd. We moved to Milford in 1971, first to Emmons St., then to Simmons Dr. from West Dummerston, VT. My late wife and I raised 4 children one of which was born in Milford, one in Vermont and two in Ohio. Currently Academic Enterprises is moribund.
