Family name is Berke Kalman 111,. My Hungarian grandfather was given the name Carl Berke when he entered Boston in 1907. The agents commonly  changed immigrant's names to something convenient for them, not necessarily for the immmigrant. I was born in Columbus, Ohio about a year before Pearl Harbor. I was educated there in public schools and graduated in 1963 from The Ohio State University. I taught school for a few years and  then decided to go into sales and after a few false starts settled on approximately 40 years in textbook publishing, trade sales, university sales and other markets. I retired from full time as the owner/founder of Academic Enterprises Ltd. We moved to Milford in 1971, first to Emmons St., then to Simmons Dr. from West Dummerston, VT. My late wife and I raised 4 children one of which was born in Milford, one in Vermont and two in Ohio. Currently Academic Enterprises is moribund. I am now a poster boy for post-industrial America doing whatever makes me happy and satisfied. I am an associate of East Coast Water Control in Walpole. I have an environmental business recycling scrap metal called Big Bill Haywood's Scrap Metal Mines. I will be managing a gift shop this summer in Ogunquit, ME. Come visit me at Drop Anchor on Shore Road. Everything I do is simultaneousl!
