Nearly 90 Inches of Snow for Milford

Milford had 87.7 inches of snow this winter.

Did it seem like all you did was shovel and snow-blow the past few months? Well, that's because you did. Milford had 70 more inches of snow this winter, than last. The town had 87.7 inches of certified snowfall, according to records kept by the Milford Highway Department, which is responsible for clearing it from roads and sidewalks. The snow fell 18 times, from Nov. 7, 2012 through March 18. The most substantial — the Feb. 8 blizzard — dropped 26.5 inches. A close runnerup was the March 7 Nor'easter, which dropped 24.1 inches. In 2011-12, Milford had a mere 17.7 inches of snow, including 2 inches that came that October. The previous winter, 2010-11, Milford had 100.3 inches.

Milford Gets Snow, Followed by a Slushy Mess

Milford reported 2.5 inches of snow in the storm, according to the National Weather Service.

The storm totals for Milford look modest on the National Weather Service website. The area got 2.5 inches of snow overnight, followed by rain, which combined for the slushy mess we now are experiencing. Even in Worcester, the snow totals were less than forecast, according to the National Weather Service website, with amounts of about 5 to 6 inches.
