Milford High School has a new head football coach: Joe Todd, most recently the defensive coordinator for the Mansfield High School team. Milford Athletic Director Richard Piergustavo confirmed the appointment Wednesday. The Scarlet Hawks ended their last season 2-9, under Coach Tom Cullen. The football team will move to the Hockomock League this coming year, as all other athletics have already done. But Piergustavo has said that shift had nothing to do with the decision to search for a new football coach outside Milford. For the first time in years, Milford will search outside the town's school system for a head football coach appointment. Tom Cullen, the head coach of the past five years, can reapply as he previously has for the one-year appointment. It's not clear if he will. Cullen could not be reached Friday. He was told of the decision to open the search to outside candidates this week, said Milford Athletic Director Richard Piergustavo.
