Elementary Lunch Prices Rise
The School Committee approved a 10-cent hike in elementary lunches, and also voted to support a pilot of the Pathways program, designed to reduce dropout rates.
Lunches at the town’s elementary schools will cost 10 cents more when the school year begins Aug. 31, with prices at the middle and high schools holding steady. Lunch prices will rise from $2 to $2.10 at the elementary level, a 5 percent increase. The School Committee approved the change Thursday, part of a possible three-year plan to step-up prices and bring them in line with federal regulations requiring that lunch prices align with subsidy rates. Food Services Director Carla Tuttle said the increase was necessary to comply with federal regulations.
