Veterans Day Program

Monday is Veterans Day. Milford will hold its annual parade, and then a ceremony will take place in Prospect Heights to honor veterans.

The town will celebrate Veterans Day with two events on Monday. The annual parade will kick off on East Main Street at 10 a.m., and head down Main Street to the Doughboy Monument, for a short ceremony, before ending at Draper Memorial Park. In Prospect Heights, the Prospect Heights Mayors are hosting the unveiling of new names added to the veterans monument in its interior park. The names will now include veterans of Korea, Vietnam and the Gulf War. That event is expected to begin about 11:30 a.m., or as soon as the Veterans Day parade is finished.

Area residents remembered veterans on Memorial Day with a parade and a speaking program in downtown Milford.

He was killed on Feb. 2, 1968. His dog tags were returned to Jayne Phelan, 18, a Milford High School senior who is Hamel's …

More than 15,000 people attended the recent Portuguese Picnic and Parade at Prospect Heights.

The annual Portuguese Picnic and Parade drew an estimated 15,000 people to Prospect Heights last weekend. The event, a celebration of the town's Portuguese culture, included a festive parade down Main Street, traditional and modern music, and foods of the Portuguese. Paul Sharp, who grew up in a Portuguese neighborhood, was recently crowned the new Mayor of Prospect Heights, and led the parade in a grand style. The two-day celebration is organized by the Portuguese Club of Milford.
