Police Notes

Police Log: Arrests for Drug Distribution, Disorderly Conduct

The following information was provided by the Milford Police Department. Charges do not indicate a conviction.

Wednesday, Jan. 30 4:54 p.m.: A woman asked to speak to an officer about identity fraud. 4:58 p.m.: Police responded to Milford Regional Medical Center, where an operator asked for police assistance. Security was out with a person involved in a possible domestic, in a vehicle. 6:37 p.m.: EMTs and police responded to West Street, where a 59-year-old had a possible broken leg after striking a trailer hitch. He was taken to Milford Regional Medical Center. 6:48 p.m.: Following a motor vehicle stop on Dilla Street, near Louisa Lake, police are seeking a summons to charge Miranda M. Barnett, 32, of 16 Tanglewood Dr., Milford, with operating a motor vehicle with a revoked registration, operating an uninsured motor vehicle and operating a motor …

Noise Bylaw to Go Before Voters

Milford Selectmen voted 2-1 to put a noise bylaw banning certain loud and late-night noises before annual Town Meeting voters.

A noise bylaw that supporters say should relieve problems in congested neighborhoods — where neighbors keep each other awake with parties, barking dogs and other intrusive noises — will go to Annual Town Meeting for a vote. Milford Selectmen voted 2-1 to put the bylaw, as proposed last year, on the warrant for the Annual Town Meeting. Specific exemptions are expected to be added to reflect any concerns from the town's police chief, whose officers would enforce the new rules. Concerns have been raised about early-morning snowblowing being prohibited, for example, so an exemption could be made for homeowners trying to clear their drives and walkways. I am a Milford resident home owner living on Highland Street. I have a neighbor who lives directly across from me who has parties at all hours of the night with motorcycles revving at all hours of the night on weekends AND he starts his motorcycle up at 6:00am (sometimes earlier) each morning this summer and lets it idle for about 15 minutes (this bike is extremely loud) NO KIDDING it is so loud …   more ›
