A quiet election year is taking place in Milford, with few contested races. Here's the ballot.
Editor's Note: only a few races are contested in the Milford Town Election this year. The Town Treasurer position and the Board of Library Trustees have contested races. Milford town elections will be combined with the state primary election for U.S. Senate, and held Tuesday. Polls opened at 7 a.m. and will remain open until 8 p.m. Here is the town ballot: For Selectman: Brian W. Murray, candidate for re-election. For Town Treasurer: Barbara A. Several people who hold elected offices in Milford took out nomination papers for re-election Monday, including incumbent Selectman Brian Murray.
Seven elected officials in Milford pulled nomination papers Monday, the first step in a candidacy for re-election, according to the Milford Town Clerk's office. The list includes Brian Murray, an incumbent member on the Board of Selectman and the current chairman. In addition, a potential race for town treasurer now exists. Barbara A. Auger, the incumbent treasurer, pulled nominations papers Monday, as did Michael D. Soares, a field service engineer with Ventana Medical Systems. Auger also is an applicant for the open position of Milford Town Administrator. That selection process is expected to be completed by early March. The Milford town election is April 2. Selectman Dino DeBartolomeis is among several incumbent candidates who have collected enough signatures to place their names on the town's election ballot for re-election.
UPDATED: Milford Town Clerk Amy Hennessy Neves reported Monday that Dino DeBartolomeis has met the required number of signatures to place his name on the town ballot for re-election. Three other incumbent candidates also have met this requirement: Samuel Bonasoro, an incumbent member of the Board of Assessors; Rudolph V. Lioce III, an incumbent member of the sewer commission and Paula Fortin, incumbent Tax Collector.
