Retiring Barney Frank will be succeeded by scion of Kennedy political dynasty.
Joe Kennedy III will be a new U.S. Congressman from Massachusetts. At around 9:30 p.m., the Associated Press called the race for 32-year old Kennedy, who lives in Brookline, as he was beating by a 2-1 margin Norfolk Republican Sean Bielat in the race to represent the redrawn Fourth Congressional District. Rep. Barney Frank, a media celebrity Tuesday night at Kennedy's celebration party at the Newton Marriott Hotel, is retiring after serving the Fourth District since 1981. Yes, the Kennedys are a famous political family, but Joe III especially follows family tradition with this particular win: his father, Joe Kennedy II, served as Congressman from Massachusetts (in the 8th Congressional District) from 1987-1999. And his great-uncle, who …

Sean Bielat, a candidate for the Fourth Congressional District, spoke at a Town Hall-style forum at Milford Town Library Monday.
Sean Bielat took his campaign for the U.S. Congress to Milford Monday night, speaking to a group of 30 supporters who had an opportunity to ask him questions at the town library. Bielat, who is the Republican candidate for the Fourth Congressional District seat, will face Joseph Kennedy III, the Democratic candidate, on Nov. 6. The seat they are seeking is now held by retiring U.S. Rep. Barney Frank (D-Newton). Bielat, in his opening remarks, emphasized that his opponent, who recently turned 31, doesn't have enough work experience to serve the district. Kennedy until recently worked as an assistant state prosecutor in Middlesex County. Bielat pointed out he'd had about 2.5 years of experience in the public sector. Said Bielat: "We need …

Kennedy and Bielat both had huge victories in the district.
After months of campaigning across a large and newly redrawn district, the pool of Fourth Congressional District candidates has officially been whittled down from six to two. Democrat Joe Kennedy III and Republican Sean Bielat will be the two names on the November ballot for the Fourth Congressional District, according to the Associated Press. Despite the low voter turnout, Kennedy had a landslide victory against his two opponents, Rachel Brown and Newton resident Herb Robinson, taking more than 90 percent of the vote, according to AP reports. "Tonight, I am honored to accept the Democratic nomination for the Fourth Congressional District of Massachusetts," Kennedy said in an emailed statement. "First and foremost, I’d like to thank the …
Milford voters have been trickling into the polls Thursday, to choose among candidates in the primary election.
The primary election includes contests on both the Republican and Democratic ballots, for who will advance in the Fourth Congressional District race. But it hasn't inspired much of a turnout so far in Milford. Traffic at the polls has been slow throughout the day, according to voting officials. Voters have been trickling in to all three locations in Milford. The polls are open until 8 p.m. People who are turning out say they want to support their party, and make their own choices. At the Milford Senior Center, Lena McCarthy voted a Democratic ballot. She had watched the Democratic National Convention the previous night, and joked she was voting "for Bill Clinton." In reality, she planned to cast votes for candidates including Joseph …
