POLL: Best Spots to Watch the Fireworks

The Fourth of July fireworks in Milford are coming up soon. Where do you watch the show?

Sometimes people like to be where everyone else is for the Fourth of July fireworks. In Milford, that would be Plains Park on July 3. The fireworks will be set off across Milford Pond, at 10 p.m., so Plains Park is a good, flat, open place to spread a blanket and meet up with friends. But where else to see the show? Pick your favorite spot in the poll and suggest other spaces to see the fireworks.

Great fireworks tonight. Extremely limited traffic control on Dilla, Cedar, Fortune Blvd, made getting to a viewing spot and leaving that spot a traffic nightmare. Hopefully this gets worked out for future events.   more ›

IMAGE GALLERY: Shooting Fireworks

Photographer Jim Calarese explains the technique behind his striking fireworks photos.

Several people have asked me how I shoot fireworks. There are a couple of techniques but the most used method requires three things: a sturdy tripod, a cable release and a camera that has either a manual setting or a fireworks setting. I shot all of these fireworks scenes at 4 to 5 seconds at F-11 using an ISO of 100 (ISO determines how sensitive your digital sensor or film is to light). I was set up on the bridge …

Does anybody know why the town set off more fireworks between 11PM and midnight on Sunday evening? I could see and hear them from my house and the last one went off at approximately 11:45. I'm not complaining, I thought it was great! Just a little curious.   more ›
