Milford Resident Arraigned on Vehicular Homicide Charge

A 22-year-old man was arraigned in Milford District Court Monday on five charges relating to a fatal crash on Cedar Street in February. Manuel Zaruma, 22, of 21 Forest St., Apt. 2, Milford, is charged with motor vehicle homicide by reckless operation, unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, reckless operation of a motor vehicle, speeding and a marked lane violation, according to court records. The Feb. 1 crash killed a 47-year-old woman who had recently moved to the area. She was a passenger in a Toyota Paseo that police said was side-swiped by a Ford Expedition driven by Zaruma, according to court documents.
