Water Contaminant Remains Elevated

The Milford Water Company recently disclosed that levels of a specific water contaminant remain high, based on testing at several sites in Milford.

UPDATED: The story has been adjusted as of 10:30 a.m. Wednesday to include information from a phone interview with David Condrey, the manager of Milford Water Company.   Complaints and requests for individual home testing are flowing into Milford Water Company, as residents learn that a round of recent testing has revealed, once again, elevated levels of a contaminant. The Water Company posted test results from the Aug. 25 samples on its website. In all six spots, the results indicate the levels of the contaminant Total Trihalomethanes (TTHMs) are above the maximum allowed for drinking water, and higher than the most recent quarterly average. The next round of town-wide testing is scheduled for Thursday. TTHMs are produced when drinking …

DEP, Water Co. Face Residents

Milford residents who attended a public meeting on water quality asked pointed questions, and criticized state and Water Company officials for the condition of public drinking water.

For the past three quarters, the private utility company has had to inform its customers that it has exceeded permissable levels for Total Trihalomethanes (TTHMs), a contaminant that forms when drinking water is disinfected with chlorine. In addition, the company had a wave of complaints in June and July, following the release of sediment in pipes, which left many customers with brown water and gritty sediment…

Milford Water Exceeds Contaminant

The Milford Water Company is preparing to notify residents, for the third time, that it has exceeded acceptable levels for a drinking water contaminant.

The Milford Water Company has violated a drinking water standard and will be required to notify customers, according to the state agency that oversees public drinking water. The contaminant found in unacceptable levels is the same one that triggered a notification to consumers twice this year. Testing results received by the state July 7 indicated the private utility exceeded the maximum contaminant level for Total Trihalomethanes (TTHMs), based on a yearly average, as well as the most recent quarter, according to the state Department of Environmental Protection. The private utility company has now exceeded the permissable level for TTHMs for three consecutive quarters, or nine months, of testing. TTHMs are produced when drinking water is …

There are company's out there that offer Water from Air technology also known as atmospheric water generators. These systems generate water that is 100% free of chlorine, fluoride, lead, recycled water, effluent and other toxic wastes. Most filtration systems remove all trace minerals from the water, thereby producing clean water. However there are systems that are specifically designed to retain…   more ›
