Milford Schools will be closed on Friday, due to the expected blizzard.
Milford Public Schools will be closed on Friday, the school system has announced. And no activities will take place at school facilities this weekend, including athletics. Superintendent Robert Tremblay said it is one of the earliest cancellations he's called, but he cited the coming storm, and the need for families to prepare. In addition, the following cancellations or early closures have been announced: Milford District Court, and all state courts, will close at 3 p.m. Friday. The "Dressed Up Not Messed Up Fashion Show" at the Milford Youth Center, scheduled for Saturday, will be held on Feb. 16 instead. Updated Tuesday 10:20 a.m.: Trash and recycling are being collected in Milford Tuesday; it it's your day, take it out to the curb. Amtrak service is not yet moving, but the MBTA is back up and running, the governor announced at 10:15 a.m. A large tree that was blocking one lane of Route 140 (north), just into Upton, has been removed. Milford schools will be closed Tuesday, following Hurricane Sandy, as will Blackstone Valley Tech in Upton. The Milford Youth Center also will be closed. Milford Town Hall is expected to reopen Tuesday. The Milford District Court was expected to reopen at noon.
