Assisted Living Center Proposed for Site of Former Orchard

What once was an apple orchard, at Birch Street and Medway Road, could become a 90-unit assisted living facility. The Milford Planning Board will hold a public hearing Tuesday night.

A New Hampshire development company wants to build a 90-unit assisted living facility on a 5-acre site at the corner of Birch Street and Medway Road. The development, called "Cornerstone," is before the Milford Planning Board Tuesday for a public hearing, and a possible vote. The hearing begins at 7:05 p.m. at Town Hall. The proposal would develop a now largely-vacant parcel, which used to be an apple orchard. SPL Development Group, of Amherst, NH, wants to build a one- and two-story structure in a series of wings. A parking area of 60 spaces also is included. The proposed 66,726-square-foot assisted living facility would include a 25-bed alzheimer unit, said Town Planner Larry Dunkin. Milford Police Announce LoJack Agreement

Milford Police will partner with LoJack in finding people who have wandered away from their homes or caregivers.

Editor's Note: the following press release was submitted by the Milford Police Department. For a number of years, the Milford Police Department maintained information that was voluntarily submitted by loved ones concerning family members who have special needs. This information would allow public safety officials to launch an immediate investigation and search should this person wander off.
