I'm going with hawk's opinion. What he did counteracted the Rolling Stone cover, showing the realRead More truth of what happened. Though it would be nice to know if he received money for his photos or just released them- anyone know?
Matthew April 18, 2014 at 08:06 am
Hawk.....There were no laws broken here. Yes, he may have broken a department policy. But not aRead More policy that should have forced his retirement. Think of this. Police and Fire departments all over the country now post Twitter pictures while on scene working an incident. Obviously if their taking pictures, then their not doing their jobs. Isn't that breaking department policy also? No reprimands happening. I still think this was a lame decission by the MSP.
Bob April 18, 2014 at 02:22 pm
Scott is right. He broke no law and the photos he released were already cleared for not being usedRead More as evidence. I think he deserved punishment but I thought the one week suspension was the right move. To be moved to Athol was a crap move by the State Police or whomever ordered it.

Why doesn't that make sense Andie? We don't know anything about them? What if an angryRead More ex-boyfriend stole the dog and dumped it in Milford? Should the dog be taken away from the family because the ex-boyfriend is a jerk?
morlamweb April 16, 2014 at 12:17 pm
@Remember When: actually, it's usually the dog owners who don't pick up their dogs' feces. TheRead More dog's gotta go when the dog's gotta go; it's up to the person with the dog to clean up after them. And I know that most dog walkers don't do that; the evidence is all over my front lawn!
Andie April 16, 2014 at 01:47 pm
@UglyHat...I don't know anything about them. That's why I asked the question.

At 9:25 a.m., a caller reported she had been riding her bike on the Beaver Street bike path when sheRead More saw a man described as being in his late 20s or early 30s walking around and turned off by the high-tension lines. Officers checked the area but did not find anyone matching the description. CAN ANYONE TELL ME WHY THIS IS NEWS AND WHY IT WAS INVESTIGATED? DOES A PERSON NOT HAVE THE SAME RIGHT TO USE THE PATH AS THE BICYCLIST? SHE WAS NOT THREATENED. IF THE WALKER WAS ACTING SUSPICIOUSLY THEN IT OUGHT TO HAVE BEEN REPORTED. CAN'T A PERSON TAKE A WALK ANYMORE?!
gretchen soule April 14, 2014 at 10:35 am
I totally agree Meg McElroy !! Its kind of asinine & a total waste of time for our police.Read More Almost every week, there are always a few ridiculous calls that people make. I remember reading last summer that a woman was rollerblading while pushing a stroller, with a child in it, and someone called in to report her that she was endangering her children...

The spineless rodent who murdered Tyler Zanco is still at large. I would hope that, even inRead More Massachusetts, this takes preference over flippin' shoplifters. If I DO spot one of these hardened criminals in the photos, however, I will immediately call 911, and go into self-imposed lockdown!

I love how we were born in this country and pay taxes but we are referred to as "legals."Read More No. We are Americans. They are not. They are here ILLEGALLY. Illegal or not, this guy is a scumbag for hitting someone on a motorcycle and dragging their body stuck underneath your car. I hope they send him to jail in his country in the worst conditions possible. The fact that this got rescheduled again is out of this world.
kalman berke April 10, 2014 at 11:04 am
He is a man who got drunk and killed another man. What his status was/is regarding your fearful andRead More hate filled opinions is irrelevant to the crime. It is, however, not irrelevant to irrational actions as in wishing him some kind of extra vicious treatment. Your hate is what makes all the terrible things happen. He did not kill because of his color, race, eye color, or status. So, to oppose a licensing that might have found him out or educated him regarding drunk driving is the real insanity here. It is called revenge and it has no purpose. And yes, the only thing different between you and him is that you are a so-called "legal". Being "American" makes you special? In what sense? You sound alien to me.
UglyHat April 10, 2014 at 01:19 pm
Kalman, his status is not irrelevant to the crime; it is in addition to the crime. He is hereRead More illegally AND he drove drunk AND he caused an accident AND he left the scene of that accident AND he dragged an innocent victim to his death. Of course all of this is only alleged today but the point is none of these things stands on its own. If he was not here, this may not have happened. If he was not drunk, this may not have happened. If he had not dragged the victim, he may have survived. And exactly how will we educate someone on driving laws, safety, signage, etc. when that person speaks a language so uncommon that we can’t find a court-appointed translator so he can face trial?

@SunEday: so, you're concerned that a kid might see the pirate hat and, what, turn to a life ofRead More piracy? What a ridiculous notion!
Marsha Smith April 10, 2014 at 07:32 am
Personally, I look to the people I surround my child with to be role models for him (myself, myRead More husband, our family, our friends, etc) rather than play equipment. The only thing I actual expect from play equipment is to be safe, mildly entertaining and, in this particular case, promote imagination. Children that are playing at this playground don't necessarily know about Somali pirates, they know about Captain Hook. In my opinion, this is being WAY over-thought. What is being installed at this playground is considerably better, safer and more entertaining than the swings that it is replacing.

I would comment on this article, but Patch has violated my First Amendment Right to Free SpeechRead More multiple times and does not allow my voice to be experienced by the rest of the population-- effectively silencing me and making me as good as dead.

Esoteric Knowledge, you might want to look for some actual knowledge. For example, when it comes toRead More free speech, you might want to read the First Amendment and figure out what it actually means: Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances. Congress shall make no law...abridging the freedom of speech. Congress has not made any law restricting your freedom of speech, have they? The Patch editors, on the other hand, might find your comments objectionable and they are well within their rights to remove said comments from their public forum. You are free to create your own public forum where you can allow your voice to be experienced by the rest of the population - for example, the domain name esotericknowledge.com is for sale - and the rest of the population will be equally free to ignore you over there.soteric Knowledge, you might want to look for some actual knowledge.

raymay, nice assumptions you just made. I actually do ride the bus and train 5 days a week to andRead More from work. I do deal with the delays in the winter while waiting outside and ride with all the diverse people. I would be a short walk to the Green Line stop at College Ave, and still don't think it's worth the money.
