Welcome Santa Parade

The popular Welcome Santa Parade is Sunday afternoon in Milford, just three days after Thanksgiving.

The 26th annual Welcome Santa Parade is Sunday, Dec. 1.

It is a tradition in Milford and one of the largest town events of the year. Organized by the Milford Permanent Firefighters, the parade features 30 to 50 fire trucks from Milford and surrounding towns, and 130 or more floats entered by groups, businesses, churches and organizations.

The parade begins at 4 p.m. at Veterans Memorial Parkway at East Main Street, and heads down East Main to Main Street, ending near the Milford Police Department headquarters. It usually takes about 60 to 80 minutes.

Milford Police advise motorists to avoid Main and East Main streets between 3:30 and 6 p.m., and advise spectators to arrive early to avoid road closures and find parking.

In past years, the parade has attracted an estimated 20,000 people. The early forecast for Sunday calls for a chance of snow or rain (30 percent) with a high of 42 degrees and a low of 32 degrees.
