Here's What's Going on in Milford This Weekend

A look at what's going on in and around Milford this weekend.

Friday, Aug. 23

1. Milford Performing Arts Center presents Summer Stock in Concert 2013, featuring the music of Hairspray and Legally Blonde. Shows are 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday. "The pulsing early days of rock ‘n roll are heard in Hairspray’s songs as teenager Tracy Turnblad tries to integrate Baltimore’s most popular TV dance show while keeping her hair just right. The songs of Legally Blonde tell the story of Elle Woods, a Harvard Law School student who pursues romance, justice, and respect without having to go brunette." All tickets $8 in advance, at the door $10 for adults and $9 for students and seniors.

2. The Holliston-based Waushakum Live Steamers, a non-profit that runs miniature steam powered locomotive trains, will have free rides for people on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. See the announcement for more details.

Saturday, Aug. 24

1. Milford Farmers Market, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., beside Milford Town Hall. Farms will include Torosian Valley Farm (Milford) and D'Allessandro Farm (Warren, RI), as well as local bakers, a honey maker and others.

2. Cheer Clinic, Express Dance & Acrobatics, Cape Road, Milford. 10 a.m. to noon. The clinic will be instructed by Coach Lindsey Larsen-Kelsey, AACCA, USASF and USAG Certified. $20 per athlete. Athletes must be ages 6 through 18 as of Aug. 31. See the announcement for more details.

3. RAD Racing Charity Barbecue, noon to 4 p.m., Red Rock Grill and Bar, Upton. The event will feature race cars for kids to sit in, music, food and other attractions. All proceeds go to Racing Against Drugs.

6. Talk Show with RJ Sheedy goes LIVE. On the first-ever live show, to be broadcast at 8 p.m. on Channel 8 Comcast, Channel 40 Verizon FIOS, RJ welcomes comedian Michael Petti, Filmmaker Michael Leggee, and music from We Were Astronauts.

Sunday, Aug. 25

1. Grafton Flea Market, Route 140, Grafton, 6 a.m. to 4 p.m.

2. Several condos and homes will be featured in Open Houses in Milford.

3. Discover Upton State Forest, 1 p.m. Joelle Vautour, the Management Forester for the DCR Midstate District, will offer a guided tour of areas of the park managed recently, and then less-disturbed areas too. She will identify and talk about various plants. Please leave pets at home for this one.
