Monday Essentials: Milford Casino, Recycling Program Changes

A big week ahead for government meetings.

1. Milford Selectmen will meet on Monday, at 7 p.m., to discuss and vote on the finalized host community agreement with Foxwoods Massachusetts.

2. The Milford Board of Health will meet at 6 p.m. Monday. The board will discuss, but will not vote, on a proposal to change the recycling program to exclude four-family units and above.

3. STOP (Stop The Overpopulation of Pets) mobile veterinary clinic is coming to the Milford Humane Society on Tuesday. An appointment is required. This low cost service is provided by Dr Ann-Marie Roche. Fees: male cats are $75.00; females are $85.00. Includes physical exam, surgery, rabies vaccination with certificate, nail trim, pain medication injection. A distemper shot is available for an additional $10.00. 4. Milford's School Committee will meet on Thursday.

5. The Milford Play Initiative, which is raising funds to build two new play areas at Fino Field, near the pool, will host a Day for Play Sunday, featuring a tots race, a 1-mile fun run for kids, and a 5K for adults.
