Milford Veterans Day Parade, Foxwoods Hearing at Mass Gaming Commission

Here are five interesting or important things coming up this week.

1. The Milford Veterans Day Parade will be at 10 a.m. Monday, starting on East Main Street near Stop & Shop, and ending about an hour later at Draper Memorial Park near the Milford police station.

2. Paul Curran will have a book launch 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at Milford Town Library, for his new book "Milford Chronicles." In this collection of the best of his two columns, "Yesterdays Past" in the Milford Daily News and "Milford Moments" in the Milford Town Crier, local historian Curran chronicles the lives and achievements of many who left indelible imprints on Milford.

3. The Massachusetts Gaming Commission on Wednesday will open a public hearing on the "suitability" of Foxwoods Massachusetts for a resort casino license. The hearing is at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center, but will also be live-streamed over the web.

4. Casino Free Milford will host a fundraiser night from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Prezo Grille & Bar. The $15 cover charge will be donated to the anti-casino group.

5. Milford Police will hold outdoor firearms training at its range off Cedar Street. The shooting is expected to take place from 4 to 8 p.m.
