Milford School Employees to Perform in Musical Friday

Here are five things to know in the week ahead.

1. Milford Schools Superintendent Bob Tremblay is among the cast members Friday in a all-schools-staff performance of "A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum." The Stephen Sondheim musical comedy tells a "hilarious story of young love, mistaken identities, disguises, and surprises in the winding streets of ancient Rome." The singers, dancers, instrumentalists, and production staff in the show are Milford faculty and staff members, nurses and alumni from all the schools in the district.

2. The Milford Planning Board on Tuesday is expected to discuss the request of the Woodland School Building Committee for a permanent zoning amendment that would allow taller public school buildings than now permitted.

3. The Milford Armory Renovation Committee will meet on Wednesday at Milford Town Hall.

4. The Milford Performing Arts Center on Friday night presents The Voltakk, a Boar’s Head play with music that celebrates the life cycle and the cycle of the seasons, based on ancient customs, superstitions and rituals during the winter solstice. From the announcement: "The Voltakk tells the story of a village in medieval Ireland forced to make sacrifices to a beast until one day the beast starts to take the village’s citizens. The Voltakk takes you on a roller coaster of emotions and features music and stories from the Renaissance and Medieval eras."
