Wally Seaver Invitational Basketball Tournament to Raise Funds for ALS

Sixteen high school teams from Massachusetts, Connecticut and Rhode Island will participate in an invitational basketball tournament in Milford this weekend, to benefit ALS.

Paul "Wally" Seaver, a longtime basketball coach, is the inspiration for an invitational basketball tournament this weekend that is expected to attract 16 teams to Milford.

The 1st Annual "Wally" Seaver High School Basketball Invitational will begin Saturday and conclude Sunday. It is expected to draw teams from numerous Central and Eastern Massachusetts towns, including: Milford, Hopedale, Ashland, Uxbridge, Sutton, Wachusett, Lunenburg, Framingham, Franklin and Wellesley. Teams also will travel from Boston (Brookline) and Mount St. Charles in Rhode Island, as well as Rocky Hill in Connecticut. [Editor's Note: See attached PDF for schedule]

The tournament is organized by Paul M. Seaver, Wally Seaver's son and a graduate student at Northeastern University. His father, the current chairman of the Milford Youth Commission, was diagnosed in 2011 with Lou Gehrig's Disease, also known as ALS.
