Our Kids & Casinos

Our children and Foxwoods’ proposed gambling culture opens an area of discussion that the all-knowing casino advocates have yet to pass blessing on.  It would seem the gambling establishment wishes to sweep this one under the carpet, much in the same manner as the multitude of unknowns associated with a Milford casino.  If some modicum of common sense yet prevails in this artificial pro-gambling frenzy a question that must be asked by Milford voters, moms, dads and grandparents alike is, “what are the long term effects on our young people”?  Foxwoods is proposing to introduce into our neighborhoods a 24/7, gambling centered way of life. This would present to our kids and grandkids, all too soon to be adults, the facade of a local commonplace activity acceptable and accessible to all, much like visiting the movies.  At best the enticement of future careers in gambling would result, and at worst a guaranteed future crop of gambling regulars to provide for the casino’s financial success.  A neighborhood backyard casino remains an abhorrently bad idea for our town and our youth.  The voters of Mlford will realize this, hopefully before it’s too late.  Vote “NO” on 11/19.
