The Milford Salvation Army Needs 90 Turkeys

GOOD NEWS -BAD NEWS: 25 volunteers, including five Rotarians, gathered at the Milford Salvation Army Tuesday afternoon and in 42 minutes packed 215 Thanksgiving Food Baskets (boxes). Great job by everyone. Now the BAD NEWS. The Boxes are packed but we learned that the Salvation Army needs 90 turkeys to complete the project.

So if anyone has 90 spare frozen turkeys (15 pound ish) in their freezer and wants to move them out- let me know. I would be happy to connect everyone so the Army can overcome this challenge.

Additionally, Captain Irwin said, "the organization will need another 50 turkeys for their Christmas dinner boxes". In the past these turkeys were supplied through the generosity of the Milford National Guard. Unfortunately, the Guard moved their headquarters to Bedford and now need to focus their generosity in the Bedford area.

So if you see a flock of turkey's passing through your yard- or crossing the highway- remember the Milford Salvation Army needs 90 more turkeys by November 21st. Perhaps a better choice would be to send them a donation and they will buy frozen turkey's that average 15 pounds that probably cost about $15 each. Thanks for Caring- Thanks for Sharing and have a wonderful Holiday Season.

For more information on how to donate a turkey or other food items to the Salvation Army’s, call the organization at 508-473-0786 or email Captain Irwin at david.Irwin@use.salvationarmy.org.
