Milford's Liane Blyn to Compete in 2013 World Games Powerlifting

Blyn, owner of Athletic Based Training in Holliston, and strength coach at Franklin High School, is one of three women in the U.S. competing in the powerlifting events.

Powerlifter Liane Blyn, of Milford, will compete beginning Tuesday in the 2013 World Games, in Colombia, one of three women to represent the U.S.

The powerlifting events are scheduled to run Tuesday through Thursday.

Blyn, who owns Athletic Based Training in Holliston, is the strength coach at Franklin High School. This is her second appearance at the World Games.

She competed in 2009 in Kaoushiung, Taiwan, placing 4th. "... missing out on the podium by a few hundreths of a point," she wrote, in an email message. "My goal for 2013 is to be on the podium."

In November 2011, she took the Bronze medal at the International Powerlifting World Championships, held in the Czech Republic. In that event, she lifted a combined 1,361 pounds.

Blyn, 40, competes in both masters and open competitions, which puts her in a field that includes women in their 20s and 30s.
