Milford College Students on Deans' Lists

Several colleges and universities have announced the names of Milford students on the Dean's List for the first semester.

Editor's Note: the following information was provided by the respective universities or colleges.

Curry College, Milton: Miranda Hull and Brett Kane, both of Milford. To qualify for the Dean's List, students must earn a 3.30 G.P.A., have no incompletes, and have no grade lower than a "C" for the semester. Full-time students must carry 12 or more graded credits for the semester; part-time students must be matriculated, carrying 6-11.5 graded credits for the semester, and must have earned a cumulative total of 15 graded credits in consecutive semesters.

Dean College, Franklin: Marco Paulo Carneiro has earned a place on the Dean's List for the Fall 2012 semester. Students are eligible to be named to the Dean's List if they have succesfully completed an academic course load of 14 credits per semester with a grade-point average of 3.3 or higher. Carneiro is pursuing a degree in Arts & Entertainment Management.

Gardner-Webb University, Boiling Springs, NC: Kate Q. Carlin of Milford, graduated with a BA in American Sign Language in the winter commencement. In addition, she made the Honor Roll during the fall 2012 semester. The Honor Roll recognizes those outstanding students who achieve a grade point average (GPA) between 3.2 and 3.7 for the semester.

College of the Holy Cross, Worcester: Emily Correia, a third-year student, has been named to the Dean’s List for the first semester of the 2012-2013 academic year. She is the daughter of Sharon and Alberto Correia of Milford Mass. She majors in Biology, Pre-Medicine and Sociology.

Keene State College, Keene, NH: Among the 1,441 students named to the Dean's List are: Whitney Elizabeth Ruth Cyr and Brian David Swindell, both of Milford. The Dean's List designation is bestowed to undergraduates enrolled in a degree program who have completed a minimum of six credit hours in the semester, receiving no failing or incomplete grades. A 3.5 or higher grade point average on a 4.0 scale is required to earn the Dean's List honor. 

Paul Smith's College, Paul Smith's, NY: Robert Kacir of Milford has been named to the dean's list at Paul Smith's College for the fall 2012 semester. Kacir, who majors in natural resources management and policy, earned a semester average of 3.3 or higher to receive this distinction. Kacir was also named an Adirondack Scholar, having achieved a cumulative average of at least 3.8.

Quinnipiac University, Hamden, CT: Brianne Mastaj; Alexandra Sannicandro; and Samantha Titlebaum. To qualify for the dean's list, students must earn a grade point average of at least 3.5 with no grade lower than C. Full-time students must complete at least 14 credits in a semester, with at least 12 credits that have been graded on a letter grade basis to be eligible. Part-time students must complete at least six credits during a semester.

Roger Williams University, Bristol, RI: William Mack, majoring in Architecture, and Stephanie Coyle, majoring in English Literature. Full-time students who complete 12 or more credits per semester and earn a GPA of 3.4 or higher are placed on the Dean's List that semester.

Salem State University, Salem: Jake Archer, Krystal Cosgrove, Danielle Rose Gabor, Brett Thomas Lawson, Melanie Marie Mattscheck, Katlyn Marie Murdock, Kyle Read, James Nicholas Sanchioni, and Michelle A. Tosches.

St. Anselm College, Manchester, NH: The following students were named to the Dean's List for the Fall 2012 semester: Amanda J. Mort, of Milford, a Education Studies major and a member of the class of 2014; Elyssar M. Saad, of Milford, a Nursing major and a member of the class of 2015; Nicole E. Zanella, of Milford, a Nursing major and a member of the class of 2014. To be eligible for this honor, a student must compile a grade point average of 3.0 or better.

St. Lawrence University, Canton, NY: Chelsea P. Corson, of Milford, has been selected for inclusion on the Dean's List for academic achievement during the fall 2012 semester. To be eligible for the Dean's List at St. Lawrence University, a student must have completed at least four semester units and have an academic average of 3.6 (based on a perfect 4.0 scale) for the semester. Corson, a member of the class of 2014, graduated from Milford High School.

St. Michael's College, Colchester, VT: Leah Allen, daughter of Carol-Anne and Scott Allen of Milford was named to the Dean's List for the fall 2012 semester at Saint Michael's College. Allen is a Senior English major at the liberal arts, residential Catholic college. Students who complete a minimum of 12 credits and achieve a grade point average of at least 3.4 at the end of a semester are recognized for their scholarship by inclusion on the Dean's List. Allen graduated from Milford High School.

University of New Hampshire, Durham, NH: The following students have been named to the Dean's List at the University of New Hampshire for the fall semester: Julia DoCurral of Milford earned Honors; Ashleigh Kaufman of Milford earned Honors; Moire Loftus of Milford earned Honors. Students named to the Dean's List have earned recognition through their superior scholastic performance. Students whose grade point average is 3.5 through 3.64 are awarded honors.

University of Scranton, Scranton, PA: Katie Gavern of Milford was among the 1,300 students recognized for academic excellence by being named to the Dean's List for the fall 2012 semester. Students at the Jesuit university must have a grade point average of 3.5 or better with a minimum number of credit hours to make the Dean's List. Gavern is a Junior Nursing major.
