Joe Callery, 37, Milton Cat Supervisor, Candidate for School Committee

Callery has a stepson who is a student at Brookside Elementary School.

A lifelong Milford resident who said he wants to start giving back to his community has taken out papers to run for School Committee.

Joe Callery, 37, of Violet Circle, said he was raised in Milford and graduated from Milford High School with the class of 1996. He has two children, including a stepson who is 8 and a student at Brookside Elementary School. His daughter is a toddler.

Callery is a special projects supervisor at Milton Cat in Milford, overseeing government contracts. He said he wanted to run because he wants to become more involved in the community.

"I just want to start helping out," he said. "I want to give back a little to the town I've lived in my whole life."

As of mid-day Thursday, neither of the two incumbents — Christine Boyle and Rob Lanzetta — had taken out papers to run. The period for pulling papers, however, continues for several more weeks.

The town election is in April.
