This fall, Milford High School will welcome international students for the upcoming 2014-2015 school year, and school officials are looking for families to host the incoming students, the Milford Youth Center announced Monday.
The effort is part of a partnership between Milford High School and gphomestay, which provides homestays for international students attending American high schools.
Host families receive a monthly stipend of $700 to cover costs related to having the students live with them.
Editor's Note: The above paragraph has been edited to clarify that families will receive a stipend of $700, not $500 as originally reported.
The following was written in an announcement by school officials:
"We plan to extend the opportunity to MHS to up to five international students for the 2014-15 academic year. For this reason, we are searching for caring families who would be willing to open their home to an international student. Our students enjoy getting involved in sports and clubs like all students and learning more about American culture. This is also a great opportunity for your family to learn more about a different culture and way of life."
