Flamingos Descend on Milford for Annual After Prom Party Fundraising

Residents can donate to the Milford After Prom Committee and have flamingos placed at a friend's home.

Flamingos are abound in Milford.

The plastic birds are part of an annual effort known as "Flamingo Flocking" by the Milford After Prom Committee to raise money for a party after the Milford High School Prom.

The After Prom Committee held its kick off this past weekend by flocking Jennifer Walsh, a respected teacher and director of the Milford Special Olympics programs, who was named North America Special Olympics’ 2013 Coach of the Year.

"We thought since Jennifer won such a great award this year for her efforts with the special needs committee, it would be appropriate to honor her with this," After Party Committee Member Loriann Braza said in a statement.

Monetary donations will benefit the Milford High School After Prom Event, which is aimed at providing students a safe, alcohol-free event the night of the prom. The After Prom Party is scheduled for May 23 immediately following the prom at Pinz.
