Go Red for Women

February is American Heart Month and Milford Regional Medical Center’s 2012 spring lecture series begins with a special program for women interested in learning more about what they can do to prevent heart disease.  Go Red for Women will be presented in the Physician’s Conference Center, adjacent to the main lobby of the medical center.  The presenters will be Milford Regional Cardiac Rehab Supervisor, Kathy Waldron, RN, BC, MSN, Registered Dietitian Jessica Tucker, RD, LDN and Linda and Bill Hamaker, certified laughter yoga teachers.

Heart disease is the number one cause of death in women, yet only 13 percent of women view it as a health threat.  In fact, 480,000 women will die from cardiovascular disease each year.  This presentation will include information on heart disease in women, including risk factors and prevention; how to make the food we eat more heart-healthy, including recipes and samples; and a laughter-filled session that is guaranteed to put a smile on your face and help you leave your stress behind!  Participants who wear red to the program will receive a special gift and all will be eligible for our “heart-smart” raffle.

There is no cost to attend, but registration is requested.  To register, go to milfordregional.org or call 508-422-2206.
