What Space is the Handicapped Space?

Anyone who's watched "Parking Wars" on cable TV has seen the confusion caused by parking signs with arrows. In Milford, the handicapped signs have green arrows, pointing the way to the spot.

When you pull into a parking space, and see the handicapped parking space sign that seems (to you, anyway) to be marking the space you didn't select, take a second look.

The little arrow, easily overlooked, points to the space that is designated for the handicapped person. The signs are posted not in the middle of the handicapped space, but usually behind it, with the arrow pointing the way.

[As an example, the photos are on Main Street, near This & That Thrift Shop.]

These new signs caused confusion in Milford recently, and led to a round of tickets.

Make sure you are parked in the right spot.

And soon enough, the handicapped symbol will be in place on the pavement, to make it even more clear.

As the article says, a lot of tickets were written because of this signage confusion. Congratulations town of Milford. You succeeded in doing exactly as you set out to do: immorally collecting money from unsuspecting people. Bunch of sneaks. I don't feel bad when I continue to go to the highway dept. to file complaints about your lousy workers who don't know how to plow (or don't care) and tear up my lawn every year.

yes thank you lynn, i am one of the lucky ones receiving not "1" but "2" tickets

You're welcome Christine. So true though. It hasn't happened to me yet. That stupid green line was made for the sole purpose of legally BUT, and I do say BUT, immorally collecting money from people. Shame on them.

nice and confusing. Can they not afford two signs or to paint the little wheel chair logo?

Hey Lynn.....bitter much??
Robin L. Reardon March 05, 2013 at 02:32 AM
Mike Deruki, isn't The Patch a place to voice opinions? Why do you think I am bitter because I am simply pointing out a fact. A truth that most people agree with me on. Or maybe you're just one of those lousy plowers, huh?
