Turnout Low in Milford

Milford voters have been trickling into the polls Thursday, to choose among candidates in the primary election.

The primary election includes contests on both the Republican and Democratic ballots, for who will advance in the Fourth Congressional District race. But it hasn't inspired much of a turnout so far in Milford.

Traffic at the polls has been slow throughout the day, according to voting officials. Voters have been trickling in to all three locations in Milford.

People who are turning out say they want to support their party, and make their own choices.

At the , Lena McCarthy voted a Democratic ballot. She had watched the Democratic National Convention the previous night, and joked she was voting "for Bill Clinton."

In reality, she planned to cast votes for candidates including who is among three candidates for the Fourth Congressional disrict on the Democratic ballot. His family connections are a benefit, she said.

"I do [like the Kennedys]," she said. "Some people are tired of the Kennedys."

Kennedy, a former state prosecutor, is running for the Congressional seat now held by U.S. Rep. Barney Frank (D-Newton), who is retiring. He faces challengers and in the Democratic primary.

On the Republican ballot, three people are competing for the chance to advance for the seat. , and are on the ballot.
