A public symposium will be March 5 at the Milford Senior Center.

Editor's Note: The following was released by the Friends of the Milford Upper Charles Trail.

On Tuesday March 5 The Friends of the Milford Upper Charles Trail will host a Symposium from 6:30 to 9:00 PM at the Milford Senior Center at 60 North Bow Street. Meet and Greet will be from 6:30-7:00.

The Upper Charles Trail is envisioned to be a 27 mile loop that includes the towns of Milford, Hopkinton, Holliston, Sherborn and Ashland.  This first in (in hopefully a series) Symposium will provide a forum for the five towns to share experiences and to encourage an ongoing dialogue as trail development advances.

Since Milford broke ground in 2005 there has been great progress made on that segment with just one mile left to finish. That section has a projected completion date of October 2014.  The trail has proven to be a wonderful asset to the town as well as surrounding communities with bikers, walkers, dog walkers, baby strollers, runners, rollerbladers, skateboarders and even cross country skiers and snow shoers in the winter months.

The Town of Holliston has recently completed their land acquisition and construction is progressing.

This meeting will have a Guest Speaker from the Metropolitan Area Planning Council, as well as representatives from the other Upper Charles Trail towns of Hopkiinton, Holliston, Sherborn and Ashland.

We will also take this opportunity to recognize those businesses in the community who act as Sponsors, and the organizations and families who have “Adopted” sections of the Milford Trail to assist in its maintenance and enhancement .

In addition to the speakers there will be time for questions.  Light refreshments will be served.

We look forward to a lively and informative evening and hope you will join us.  Detailed information about the Friends organization can be found on our website www.milfordtrail.org.
