Do you think speeding is an issue in Milford? If so, let us know where you think it's the worst.

It's the summer, and everyone is out.

While you're going about your business, it's not uncommon to see vehicles zipping up and down streets.

We want to know if you think speeding is a big deal and, if so, where you think it's worst. Where would you love to see cops pulling over speeders, left and right?

Between traffic and construction, can you speed anywhere? Takes me 10 mins to go 3 miles in this town at times.

North end of Purchase St. - Posted 30MPH - actual 40 to 45 mph. Silver Hill Rd a close 2nd- also posted 30MPH, but seems to be just a suggestion.

West St, either going up or down the hill!!!!

I'd agree with that one. And people go too fast on Purchase Street, too, heading in and out of Hopkinton. There are lots of people walking/running/ even kids on skateboards and no sidewalks on that stretch.

Nancy Road. Every once in a while someone FLIES by. Just ridiculous to go that fast in a residential neighborhood.

I agree that West is really bad, either direction. There is one crosswalk, at High Street, and most drivers sail right through. It's a dangerous street for those of us who live in the area and want to cross it.

People entering Milford from EMC area either don't realize or don't care the speed limit drops from the earlier posted 45 to 30. Milford Police did setup a speed trap at Farmers Circle for Purchase earlier this year. Silverhill..its hard to not go over 30...you have to ride your brakes all the way down, going up...no excuses. Congress between N. Vine to Reservoir also pretty fast.

Upper purchase street heading to and from Hopkinton....we live there and the speeds are in excess of 40 miles an hour almost all the time ...

I lived on High St near the intersection at West Spruce. People were always flying up and down that hill. Combine that with the people who have stop sign blindness coming out of West Spruce, I heard people leaning on their horns every day, no exaggeration.

South Main st is like a racetrack
SpeedwayResident August 11, 2012 at 04:16 PM
For the sheer volume and consistency, nothing beats upper Purchase Street. Eighteen wheelers, motorcycles or cars. It's a drag strip. I can't remember the last time I saw a car pulled over. And I've never seen one of the trucks or a motorcycle pulled over. 50 MPH is a constant.
SpeedwayResident August 11, 2012 at 05:25 PM
They realize it. They don't care.

Everywhere. Is that an option? I have never been to another town where so many people speed. I feel like I am in a bad video game most days trying to take turns off of most streets in this town. I never see cops watching for speeding either.
Wendi August 11, 2012 at 07:04 PM
West St & High St especially & they speed right past policemans house. Very bad at night.
Mr Nobody August 11, 2012 at 07:44 PM
I would say upper Purchase Street without a doubt in my military mind, heading towards the center of town, or heading the other way toward Hopkinton line. Some of these clowns think there driving on 495 still, when they drive on Purchase Street some of these four wheelers will pass you out right across the double painted yellow lines. And the sad part is cops don't do there job, there to busy talking in some parking lot to there girl friends. Believe it or not.
MilfordMomof3 August 11, 2012 at 08:22 PM
Sumner Street is pretty bad. Cars use it to cut through from Dilla to downtown and try to make up for lost time in Dilla St traffic by driving 40-60 mph. Scares me during the school year when kids are trying to cross to walk to school there.
Milford Senior Man August 12, 2012 at 12:13 AM
I must agree with the others who say upper Purchase St. I live off Purchase and drive it into Hopkinton past the EMC places and it's like a freeway. I do 40mph and cars are on my bumper cursing me lol.
Ralph August 12, 2012 at 03:29 PM
Maybe we should get together and start a movement to drive the speed limit on Purchase St. It would be a lot safer for the folks that live on it or near it.
Deb August 13, 2012 at 01:24 PM
Definitely North Purchase Street area just over the Hopkinton/Milford town line. Reservoir Road(previously mentioned) and Camp Street, as well as the Tanglewood/Briar Rd/Tina Road "cut through". I have noticed lately that the police are out in that area a bit more though, so hopefully that will help.
ohnoudidnt August 13, 2012 at 02:32 PM
Water Street...either direction. Tractor trailers, cars, motorcycles...all go way too fast at all times of the day and night.
SpeedwayResident August 13, 2012 at 03:54 PM
They are? I live on the street. They must be out there when I'm sleeping.
Amanda coleman August 14, 2012 at 01:37 AM
lets not forget fiske mill rd. cops dont do anything, they just hang a stupid box on the pole
Deb August 14, 2012 at 12:30 PM
SpeedwayResident - the past few days they were on Camp Street when I go to work in the morning. Today however they were not.
SpeedwayResident August 14, 2012 at 03:11 PM
Deb, until the town and police finally decide to do something about the issue, sitting on Camp Street for a few minutes in the morning will alleviate zilch, although I guess slowing down the traffic heading to South Street for a minute or two is better than nothing.
Deb August 14, 2012 at 04:29 PM
Agreed - it is a much larger issue than sitting anywhere for a short amount of time. But I do believe that a presence, even small, is a bit of a deterrent, even though a temporary one.
Donna August 16, 2012 at 12:57 AM
Highland St , (the ext) leading to whitewood, I live on this street and can barely get out of the driveway and I love how people get pissed at you for pulling out when you had plenty of time too, it is just that they are flying down the road.
