Milford Youth Center Seeks Support for Renovation Project

Find out how you can voice your support for the building's renovation.

The Milford Youth Center is asking community members and residents to support its effort to update and renovate its building on Pearl Street.

The center's staff has been working to ensure that its building, which is 103 years old, can be renovated. Voters will have a chance to approve the project at this year's Town Meeting on Monday, May 19 at Milford Town Hall.

"We are not asking for a state of the art building, by any means," an announcement by the center reads. "We are asking for a safe, handicap accessible, fire code-compliant and weather resilient building for our youth and entire community."

The roof of the building has reportedly reached its life expectancy, the gym floor is reportedly buckling and the building floods during inclement weather.

A public meeting that was originally scheduled last week was cancelled and will subsequently be rescheduled at a date that has yet to be determined, according to the MYC.
