Medical Marijuana, an Industrial Zone Proposal

The Planning Board on Tuesday did not discuss proposed zoning for medical marijuana dispensaries due to a lack of attending members.

The Planning Board postponed its discussion of proposed zoning for medical marijuana treatment centers because two of five members did not attend the meeting, and the remaining board members said they wanted a full discussion of the issue.

The initial proposal before the board would place medical marijuana treatment centers in either the industrial A or B zones. These zones include the Maple Street, Fortune Boulevard and Beaver Street areas.

The proposed zoning setback, which would require the facilities to be at least 200 feet from churches, schools, houses, residential zones and public spaces such as parks, is similar to restrictions required for adult entertainment, said Town Planner Larry Dunkin.

The Planning Board next meets in January. Any change in zoning would require Town Meeting approval in spring.

Milford Selectmen last month asked the planning board to consider zoning regulations, to restrict where the medical marijuana treatment centers could be located. would not be allowed until the new year.

Its a MEDICAL TREATMENT center people. Not a factory. It should be allowed anywhere a medical office is allowed. These are sick people looking for help. Not recreational users. Shame on you for equating it to adult entertainment. These are our grandmothers and fathers.

Nothing like a petty bureaucracy to jam up the works...and, misclassify medicinal marijuana. Helpful solution: vote them out With all of the rhetoric surrounding the marijuana debate, the concept most overlooked: Freedom of the individual. “…over himself, over his own body and mind, the individual is sovereign.” — from the essay On Liberty by John Stuart Mill What happened to, "This is a FREE country"? That is what we have been telling the rest of the world for decades. Please, let us live up to it. Lead by example. After spending 5 years in Federal Prison for a marijuana offense, I wrote: Shoulda Robbed a Bank No, it is not a treatise on disproportionate sentences. I wrote about the escapades that led to my incarceration. I admit, I had a great time. No one was injured, no one was killed, firearms were not involved...there were no victims. We were Americans pursuing happiness in our own way. Harming no one...nor their property. That’s my contribution to helping point out just how ludicrous our pot laws truly are.

Pretty sure if you got 5 years in a Federal Prison it would be for either trafficking or intent to distribute large amounts of Marijuana...

The high kids are already talking about which doctors will prescribe you pot for anything. Have headaches? Get some pot. Migraines? More pot! And their parents insurance will pay for it! Yahoo, FREE pot!

You want to smoke pot for medical use, smoke it in your doctors office.
