Main Street Construction: Almost Done

The improvements for most of Main Street are completed. Additional work will take place in the spring at one more intersection.

After months of delays, detours and dodging exposed sewer covers, travelers in Milford have probably noticed that Main Street is almost done.

Almost, but not quite.

The $3.3 million state project is 98 percent complete, according to the state Department of Transportation website.

The finishing touches are being completed this week in the downtown stretch. Only one intersection still has to be completed — Cedar Street at East Main Street — and that one will wait until spring, said Mike Santora, Milford's town engineer.

The project has introduced new intersection lights, new paving, enlarged sidewalk crossings at intersections, and audible/digital crosswalk guides. The same improvements will be made at the Cedar Street intersection.
