ABCC Upholds Scioli's License Suspension

The pizza bar has lost its appeal of the town's decision to suspend its license for three weeks.

The Alcoholic Beverages Control Commission is supporting Milford selectmen's decision to suspend Scioli's license for three weeks.

The state agency, which oversees businesses with alcohol pouring licenses, heard an appeal from  on July 18. The ABCC's decision was faxed yesterday to the town.

Selectmen had also in the spring ordered the bar to close three hours early for six months, but agreed to put a stay on the actions until this appeal was resolved.

The town took steps against the license issued to Scioli's after hearing testimony April 30 that a restaurant employee had struck two customers, injuring them, after one was ordered out of the bar. . The business owner argued the actions were the result of a rogue employee, and said his staff did not over-serve patrons.

"This one violation is a serious offense that resulted in serious injuries to more than one patron of the Licensee being inflicted by the Licensee's security person. Given the aggravating circumstances of the incident, the commission APPROVES the action of the local board in SUSPENDING the license of Scioli Corporation...for three weeks," the board wrote in its decision.

Selectmen meet next on Sept. 24 and are expected to make a decision then about the start date of the suspension.

Scioli's has the option of filing another appeal. Return to Milford Patch for more information.

About time, this place is a disgrace to the community. They had problems at their last location and now here. Shut them down for GOOD!

I have only been to sciolis a few times, but every time it was the same.. Large crowd of extremely intoxicated people then a fight or two brakes out. This place is way to big first of all. I think it would be nice if there was a sobriety check point near by.. Get MIlford PD to do some work
