1,200 Voters Cast Ballots in Early Voting

The turnout for the Milford town election Monday is on pace to be stronger than last year's municipal election. By 1 p.m., 1,209 voters had cast ballots.

About 7 percent of Milford's registered voters had cast ballots by 1 p.m., according to data supplied to Milford Town Clerk Amy Hennessy Neves.

That's 1,209 residents who had cast ballots in the first five hours of voting. The town has 16,860 registered voters this year.

Polls opened at the town's eight precincts at 8 a.m. and will remain open until 8 p.m.

Last year, only 2,045 voters cast ballots in the town election.

Voters this year are choosing among several contested races, including a four-way competition for three seats on the School Committee and a contested selectman's seat.

were standing beside their campaign signs outside the town's three voting locations. The largest group was at the Portuguese Club, which had also had the largest turnout as of 1 p.m., Neves said.
