UPDATED: Suspicious Package in Milford Parking Lot was a Cooler

Employees of Papa Gino's called police about 10 p.m.

UPDATED: The Massachusetts State Police investigated a suspicious box discovered in a Milford parking lot Tuesday night. After a series of tests using a remote-controlled device, police determined it was a cooler.

The State Police bomb unit responded about 11:30 p.m., and expanded a perimeter around the object that had been established earlier by Milford police and firefighters. The box-like package was in the parking lot of the Milford Regional Medical Center Rehabilitation clinic, next to Papa Gino's, on Cape Road.

Workers at Papa Gino's had called police, after spotting the object.

Route 140 remained open throughout the investigation, as a remote-controlled device was sent to poke at, pick up, and drop the box.

After about 25 minutes of testing, police determined the object was not a danger.
