This weekend, the Massachusetts State Police will hold a Sobriety Checkpoint in Worcester County.

The checkpoint will be held Saturday, May 3 into Sunday, May 4 on a public way within Worcester County.

According to State Police, the purpose of the checkpoint is "to further educate the motoring public and strengthen the public’s awareness to the need of detecting and removing those motorists who operate under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs from our roadways.  It will be operated during varied hours, the selection of vehicles will not be arbitrary, safety will be assured, and any inconveniences to motorists will be minimized with advance notice to reduce fear and anxiety."

I understand that the police have to notify the public before conducting these checkpoints. But I wonder why they don’t tell us about the results? How many cars went through the checkpoint? How many drivers were actually checked vs. waived through? How many were cited, summonsed, arrested as a result?

What happens if they catch an off duty statie DUI? I recall a couple of years ago north of Boston a State Police Captain got a slap on the wrist for serious driving violations with alcohol on his breath and an open container found on the seat next to him while he was driving an unmarked cruiser.

It is illegal. Drunk or not if they arête you, you will win on trial in court. It is a violation of of safety for when they do this. It is uncivil and unlawfully in witch any judge will tell you in court if you fight it. They need reasonable suspicion to even have you pull over and perform a breathalyzer or test. So if they do ask you to just refuse! Even if you are drunk it will be dropped in court. You will have to go threw the whole being under arrest bs but in end it's all worth it! In MA laws they have no right to random have and conduct theses check points! Just read your local laws! If you don't believe me. Then search the cases of people who have. 98% of them all dropped!

6 times now always sober and arrested. And won in court every time. Cops used we smell alcohol in car. There excuse to search car and do what they want if you look suspicious. And every time I refuse breathalyzer and arrested. And win in court because judge knows theses so called check points are illegal. O and also my father is a state trooper and he told me what they do and how to do it. But I never once told them my father is a trooper. I love to see there faces at court in front of the people be humiliated and feel embarrassed for there wrong doing and smile at them as of they did to me when they think they are smart and act all tuff.
