Police Log: Youths Jumping into Lowe's Quarries, Syringe in the Garden

The following information was provided by the Milford Police Department. All arrests are reported. Charges do not indicate a conviction.

Wednesday, July 10

4:20 p.m.: Kohl's reported a shoplifter had been detained. Police responded and arrested Kinjal Prakashkumar Patel, 30, of 48 Glen Meadow RD., Apt. 2, Franklin, on charges of shoplifting by concealing merchandise and assault and battery.

5:18 p.m.: A caller reported a two-car crash outside Mazzarelli's Bakery, on Central Street. The caller said an argument had started, as well. Police responded and were seeking a summons to charge Carlos A. Nunes, 38, of 39 Carroll St., Milford, with operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license, and following too closely.

6:11 p.m.: A disturbance was reported on East Main Street. A caller said a woman in a tank top and jean shorts had been in some kind of a fight inside a vehicle, then was thrown from the vehicle. The woman got up and walked toward Tedeschi. Police responded and talked to the woman. She said it was a misunderstanding with her daughter. She would not give the officer her name or any other information. Another officer spoke to the caller and the stories matched.

7:58 p.m.: A customer reported to a Lowe's employee that a few youths were jumping into the quarries on the site. Police responded but they were gone.

9:28 p.m.: A caller reported fireworks on West Fountain Street. Police could not locate the people setting them off.

11:32 p.m.: A caller on Central Street said he could hear a man asking for help outside his apartment. Police responded but could not locate the man.

Thursday, July 11

12:18 a.m.: A disturbance was reported on Harvard Drive. Someone had just knocked at her window, a woman reported. And this is the second time it had happened. Police responded and checked the area.

6:26 a.m.: A homeowner on Water Street said he found a syringe in his garden, and that he disposed of it.

8:49 a.m.: A wire was on fire on Howard Street. Police called National Grid.

3:18 p.m.: A worker for Department of Children and Families said he was trying to perform a warrant arrest on girl at a downtown address, who "jumped out the window and took off."

3:20 p.m.: A caller reported his ex-girlfriend beat him up after a break-up. He said it happened about two days before, in a car, after the break-up.
