Police Log: Woman Trying to Break into Cars at Target; Burglar Takes Wallet, Leaves Documents

The following information was provided by the Milford Police Department. When arrests are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

Wednesday, Oct. 9

8:27 a.m.: A caller who lives near West Street Liquors said someone had knocked on his door after midnight. He wouldn't give any more information.

9:16 a.m.: An officer responded to Milford High School for a disturbance. The nature of the disturbance was not described.

9:22 a.m.: A caller on Main Street said a woman was going through the trash on the street. Police responded but the woman was not found.

9:41 a.m.: Police responded to Milford High School for a reported theft.

10:00 a.m.: The state Department of Children and Families responded to a home near downtown for removal of a 16-year-old child.

12:14 p.m.: A caller on Main Street said she found a crow bar in a suspicious location.

1:39 p.m.: A caller at Target said a woman was trying to break into cars in the lot. Police responded.

3:33 p.m.: A caller said the kids next door, on Claudette Drive, were kicking balls into the wall. An officer responded and told them to stop.

3:48 p.m.: A woman said her husband's wallet was taken from his vehicle, on Howard Street, but his License to Carry (a firearm) and driver's license were left taped to the front door of the house.

4:23 p.m.: Several officers responded to a crash near Route 85 Mobil. The crash was blocking traffic but no one was injured. Both cars were towed.

5:13 p.m.: A man called Milford Regional Medical Center in a panic, saying he had two kids in his custody and he said he was a sex offender. He said he took the kids after taking their mother to the hospital. The mother was told to stay at the hospital for a mental evaluation. A police sergeant contacted the state DCF and asked them to take custody of the children. A grandmother was on the way, so the DCF call was cancelled.

5:38 p.m.: A caller asked to speak to an officer about a 16-year-old patient who had made threats to his mother about his probation officer.

6:50 p.m.: An 8-year-old called police and said another youth had threatened him and his friend. An officer determined this was an argument, not a crime.

11:09 p.m.: A caller on Beaver Street said her husband's vehicle had been broken into the previous night. She said her neighbor's car also was broken into. The caller was not in town at the time of the call and said she wanted the information logged and more patrols of the area.

Thursday, Oct. 11

12:48 a.m.: EMTs responded to a home near downtown for a 73-year-old who fell from the top of a staircase. He was taken to the hospital.

8:01 a.m.: A woman said she was being harassed by a man.

12:32 p.m.: A woman reported a man was following her on Ravenna Street while she walked with her son. It was possibly an ex, she said.

12:44 p.m.: A woman on Pheasant Circle told police a maintenance man was in her apartment without her permission.

1:05 p.m.: A caller on Sherwood Drive said a woman was in the area claiming to have lost a dog, while a male companion was going around the back of the houses. Police checked but could not locate the pair.

1:15 p.m.: Police responded to Draper Memorial Park, where a man was passed out. Police checked and he appeared to be OK.

2:00 p.m.: A caller at Spectra Automation on Cedar Street asked police to take a report of a theft involving an employee.
