Police Log: Unattended Children, Young Child Walking from School, Too-Affectionate Customer

The following information was provided by the Milford Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

Monday, Aug. 26

11:08 a.m.: A caller at Kohl's reported a woman was in custody for shoplifting. Police responded and were seeking a summons to charge Katelyn M. Henault, 26, of 4113 Arbor Dr., Shrewsbury, with shoplifting by asportation.

3:33 p.m.: A brush fire was reported by the Mendon Fire tower in the area of Dilla Street. Firefighters responded.

5:48 p.m.: A caller at Auto Zone reported a customer was being belligerent. He was outside the store, disturbing the store's operation. An officer responded and spoke to him and told him to leave the area.

6:26 p.m.: A woman walked in to police headquarters and reported she had encountered a running vehicle at the Shaw's parking lot, and inside the car were two children, aged about 5 and 1. Police responded and an officer spoke to the parents.

7:23 p.m.: A caller reported a suspicious vehicle in the area of Governor's Way. She thought the people had gone into the quarries. 

7:46 p.m.: A hit-and-run was reported near Milford Town Hall.

9:08 p.m.: A caller reported her son was angry and out in the back yard pacing with a plastic shovel in hand. She wasn't sure what he was going to do. She called back to report he had come inside and gone into his room.

9:28 p.m.: A driver with no handicapped placard or plate had parked in a handicapped spot at Milford's Senior Center. Police spoke to the driver and told him to move the car.

9:51 p.m.: A man walked in to police headquarters and said that a person in a vehicle had thrown a set of fireworks at his car at McDonald's on South Main Street. The car then headed up South Main Street toward downtown.

10:13 p.m.: A man reported a disturbance on Water Street.

10:59 p.m.: A caller reported two men were fighting in the parking lot of La Quinta Inn. Police responded and spoke to them.

Tuesday, Aug. 27

7:23 a.m.: A minor hit-and-run was reported at Milford High School.

7:34 a.m.: Police responded to an address where a 49-year-old woman had a possible broken arm, and a 16-year-old girl had passed out. Both were taken to Milford Regional Medical Center.

9:51 a.m.: A crash was reported at North Vine Street and Redwood Drive. A hydrant was knocked over. Police contacted the Milford Water Company.

10:06 a.m.: A woman at Milford High School reported a theft.

12:23 p.m.: A 60-year-old woman at Wendy's was having difficulty breathing. She was taken to the hospital.

12:26 p.m.: A woman reported her daughter had made suicidal threats. Police were checking several properties and tracing the phone through AT&T. They were unable to locate her.

1:27 p.m.: An officer located the woman above, and she seemed fine and was with two other people.

1:28 p.m.: Wires were taken down on Cemetery Street at Claflin Street by a large truck that struck a tree branch. The town's tree warden was called, as well as National Grid and Verizon.

1:56 p.m.: A caller at Shaw's supermarket said a customer was making her feel uncomfortable at work by hugging her and kissing her cheek.

2:24 p.m.: A caller on Luby Avenue said someone was in the area with a paintball gun. Police checked and found someone shooting the paintball gun. There was no property damage but the police officer spoke to him.

3:20 p.m.: A detective responded to Central and East streets, where a school bus had its flashers on and a woman who looked distraught. The woman reported confusion over whether a 6-year-old child should have taken the bus, or walked. The child was described as wearing a green dress with white leggings. She had a white tag on her that said "Bus 8." An officer located the child and another officer went to go pick her up.

3:46 p.m.: A caller reported his 31-year-old son had walked out of a hospital. They were there waiting for an evaluation and he left. Police were not able to locate the man.

4:56 p.m.: A 15-year-old boy was confused at Milford High School, and possibly had suffered a concussion. He was in the trainer's office. He was taken to the hospital.

5:28 p.m.: A man walked in to police headquarters and reported he had been threatened by another man.

9:44 p.m.: A caller asked police to check on the well-being of a person who was sleeping near a collection bin at Salvation Army. The caller didn't get close enough to see if it was a woman or a man. Police responded and called for an ambulance for a woman, who was complaining of dehydration. She declined transport to the hospital.

10:08 p.m.: A caller at KFC asked police to check on the well-being of the employees. She thought they were closed, but a man was breathing heavily into the speaker. Several officers responded. Everyone was OK.

11:41 p.m.: A caller on Jionzo Road reported a car had hit a house. A firefighter found the vehicle was in the driveway, and had not hit the house. Police arrested Justin J. Floyd, 21, of 22 Homeward Lane, Natick, on charges of OUI liquor, marked lanes violation, having an unregistered motor vehicle, having an uninsured motor vehicle and attaching plates.

Wednesday, Aug. 28

12:27 a.m.: A man walked in to police headquarters and said he had been threatened by a local tow company. He asked to speak to an officer.

7:51 a.m.: A caller on Congress Street told police her car windows were smashed out and her purse was taken.

8:31 a.m.: A caller on North Vine Street near Woodland Elementary said people were parking on the street and dropping off kids in the road. An officer said he would speak to the principal and ask him to remind parents not to do this.

8:36 a.m.: A caller on School Street said the air had been let out of two of her tires on a brand new vehicle.

10:20 a.m.: A caller on Medway Road said the highway bridge was making a lot of noise. Police responded and found it was the steel plate on I-495, and cars striking it.

1:25 p.m.: A disturbance was reported on East Main Street. After police responded, they were told a woman's niece had shown up unexpectedly and caused a scene.

3:20 p.m.: The woman who had earlier reported the airs were let out of her tires came into the police station, and said the tires had been slashed overnight.
