Police Log: Trash Stealing, Men Drinking in the Road

The following information was provided by the Milford Police Department. Charges do not indicate a conviction.

Wednesday, Oct. 3

5:03 p.m.: A caller reported a pole was on fire on Janock Road. Firefighters responded. National Grid was notified.

6:52 p.m.: A woman told police her daughter is getting strange text messages, and she thinks they are coming from an adult posing as a child. The messages requested information about her location, and photos.

7:53 p.m.: A caller on Ridge Road said someone had stolen his trash. "The whole bag has been taken." This was the third time it's happened in the past few weeks, he said.

10:26 p.m.: Police arrested Laurence F. Thornton, 43, of 72A Water St., Apt. A, Milford on a warrant.

11:27 p.m.: A caller reported three youths were shining lights at vehicles driving by the McDonald's on South Main Street. Police spoke to them.

11:41 p.m.: A Ford Escape was repossessed on Chestnut Street.

Thursday, Oct. 4

12:57 a.m.: A caller reported "multiple males" were drinking in the roadway on Luby Avenue and causing a noise disturbance. Police spoke to them.

6:37 a.m.: A caller on Howard Street reported a very loud, large refrigeration truck is running 24-7 at Zen Bakery. An officer noted complaints have been made in the past for the same issue. The unit turns off and on throughout the night. The Police Chef was going to be advised of the complaint.

6:48 a.m.: An officer with a radar gun on Beaver Street issued three citations to vehicles.

6:55 a.m.: A man on Harvard Drive reported his 11-year-old daughter was refusing to go to school.

7:03 a.m.: A woman told police her son's father came into her apartment, pushed her around and messed up the apartment. Police spoke to her.

9:05 a.m.: A pickup truck ran off the road on Fortune Boulevard, near IRA Toyota. One person was taken to Milford Regional Medical Center.

9:51 a.m.: An officer reported a small brown car on Main at Exchange streets had refused to move out of the way for an ambulance.

10:18 a.m.: A woman told police she has a restraining order against her ex, but he is following her and sending threats through a third party. Police are seeking a summons to charge Sudip K. Sengupta, 30, of 17 Shadowbrook Ln., Apt. 32, Milford, with two counts of violating an abuse prevention order and one count of intimidating a witness.

11:55 a.m.: A woman who is away at college asked police to check on the well-being of her 20-year-old ex-boyfriend, who has made suicidal statements to her. Police checked at his Milford apartment, but he was not home.

12:19 p.m.: A BMW sedan was repossessed on Sumner Street.

1:39 p.m.: An employee of Doc's Sports Bar & Grille told police a man and a woman in a vehicle on the property were having sexual activity.
