Police Log: Three-Car Crash on Main Street, Couple Fighting at Target

The following information was provided by the Milford Police Department. When arrests are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

Monday, Oct. 21

12:21 a.m.: A manager at Mobil on Route 109 said a man had tried to steal a bottle of wine from the store. The man didn't get the bottle and fled.

12:29 a.m.: A caller on South Central Street said he heard a person in his back yard and saw that the shed door was open. Police checked and everything was OK.

1:02 a.m.: A Toyota was repossessed on Shadowbrook Lane.

3:19 a.m.: Riverside Community Services reported a patient was making threats at Milford Regional Medical Center.

5:15 a.m.: A caller at Milford Regional said a male patient was acting out.

8:08 a.m.: A caller on Fruit Street said a red tuck had been vandalized.

12:27 p.m.: A three-car crash was reported on Main Street, near Eternal Images. Police were seeking a court summons to charge Elouise B. White, 80, of 27 Haverstock RD. Franklin, with a marked lanes violation and reckless operation of a motor vehicle.

1:03 p.m.: A two-car crash was reported on Purchase Street. A woman complained of neck pain and was taken to Milford Regional Medical Center.

2:27 p.m.: A Meals on Wheels volunteer said she had not been able to contact a man since last Friday. Police checked and found he was in New York with relatives.

4:25 p.m.: A caller reported excessive speeding in the area of Congress Street and asked for additional patrols. An officer said he had been on traffic enforcement in the location and had not found any speeders.

5:45 p.m.: An 11-year-old boy was reported to be out of control on Fruit Street, where a caller said he hit someone and was throwing things. An officer responded and checked with the parent and said everything was OK.

6:00 p.m.: An officer pulled over a car on West Street near Bancroft Avenue. An officer was seeking a summons to charge Kevin P. Ireland, 21, of 91 School St., Milford, with a number plate violation to conceal ID, operating an unregistered motor vehicle and operating an uninsured motor vehicle.

6:09 p.m.: An erratic driver was reported on Cedar at Naples streets. The white KIA SUV was swerving all over the road. An officer stopped the vehicle and found no impairment in the driver.

10:05 p.m.: A caller on Wildwood Drive said a cleanup crew was making excessive noise. Police spoke to the people involved.

Tuesday, Oct. 22

2:00 a.m.: An officer checked a building on West Street with an open door. Everything was OK.

12:30 p.m.: A brush fire was reported on Dilla Street. Off-duty firefighters were paged to assist.

1:48 p.m.: Police responded to Cedar Street and arrested David B. Cardy, 63, of 51 Congress St., Milford, on two warrants.

2:19 p.m.: A caller reported a crash involving a motorcycle and a car on West Street. No one was injured.

3:32 p.m.: A man walked in to police headquarters and said he drove his friend to a bank to cash a check. The check had been stolen from another friend. Now that friend was threatening him, he said, saying he was an accomplice. Police were investigating.

3:49 p.m.: A man called police from I-495 saying his Ford F-250 was on fire. He was outside and pulled over by an island. Firefighters responded.

4:11 p.m.: A woman reported she was a victim of a check fraud.

5:42 p.m.: A caller on Purchase Street said she was almost hit by a white Scion. It was all over the road, she said. Police responded but the vehicle was gone.

7:27 p.m.: A 2007 Chevy Cobalt was repossessed on Medway Road.

7:48 p.m.: A woman walked in and reported her daughter as missing. She has diabetes and would be needing insulin soon. Police began searching. The daughter was reunited with the mother.

9:18 p.m.: A 2000 Dodge Caravan was repossessed on Main Street.

9:22 p.m.: A mother asked to speak to an officer. She said her daughter refused to listen to her.

9:43 p.m. A caller reported someone had mowed her lawn without her permission. She also said a window was open when she returned home. And she reported other crimes that she said no one else believed. Police spoke to her and then were attempting to get in contact with a family member.

Wednesday, Oct. 23

8:24 a.m.: The woman who police spoke to the previous night asked to speak to an officer about suspicious things that had been happening at her home in recent months.

10:12 a.m.: An employee of Stop & Shop reported a man had been in the store acting unusual and had been there for a few hours. Police responded. The man then called 911 and said the police officer had dropped his phone and now it was not working. Police were attempting to contact the man's mother.

10:46 a.m.: A caller said a man and a woman were fighting at Target. Police responded but were not able to locate the pair.

12:43 p.m.: A caller at CosmoProf on East Main Street said the man earlier at Stop & Shop was causing a disturbance with customers. He was last seen heading toward Gold's Gym. Police contacted his mother and she said she would pick him up.
