Police Log: Suspicious White Bucket, Patient Threatening the ER Staff

The following information was provided by the Milford Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

Sunday, Aug. 4

3:05 p.m.: A caller reported  a strange, white bucket on McGill Lane at Haven Street. It had a tube coming from it and inside the bucket a white foamy substance. Police responded but could not identify what it was. Firefighters responded, and identified it as a water softener tank from a house that had been dumped.

3:15 p.m.: A caller asked for officers to respond to Otis Street at Chapin Street for a loud music complaint. Police responded but the music had stopped.

Monday, Aug. 5

2:42 p.m.: A theft was reported at Tedeschi market. 

3:47 p.m.: A caller at Shaw's Supermarket said someone had put trash in her car while she was shopping. She called back and said it was a misunderstanding.

4:24 p.m.: A man in his 40s was acting suspiciously in Tomaso Field. Police responded but could not find him.

7:16 p.m.: A caller complained of loud music coming from a basement apartment on South Main Street.

8:59 p.m.: A cat was struck on West Street, near Dairy Queen. Police responded but could not locate the animal.

9:27 p.m.: Police responded to Milford Regional Medical Center, where a patient was reported to be threatening the ER staff.

Tuesday, Aug. 6

12:35 a.m.: A caller said his son just got home and said he was hit by a car while riding his bike. The caller said he thought his son was intoxicated and could not get any more information from him. Police responded and determined the bike had no signs of damage. The man appeared unhurt but was heavily intoxicated.

1:48 a.m.: Firefighters on Birch Street reported two men were walking around on the construction site. Police could not locate the men.

2:14 a.m.: A caller heard a noise and looked out a window in the house on Freedom Street and saw a heavyset man walking toward Hopedale. She thought he was trying to break into cars. Police responded but could not locate him.

3:08 a.m.: A caller on Janock Road said she heard a loud banging noise and when she looked out the window, saw damaged mail boxes on the ground. Police are seeking a summons to charge Joseph K. Kalaghan, 17, of 5 Shadowbrook Lane, Apt. 19, Milford, with malicious destruction of property, less than $250 and being a junior operator of a motor vehicle between midnight and 5 a.m. without a parent present. Police also are seeking a summons to charge Dylan Richard Moretti, 17, of 54 Luby Ave., Milford, with malicious destruction of property, less than $250.

2:17 p.m.: A caller said that skateboarders in Milford Town Park were using the benches in the basketball court.

2:52 p.m.: A woman reported a man on Sumner Street was trying to knock down a tree, and she felt it wasn't safe. An officer responded and determined the tree was not near the roadway.
